Power Plant Tours

Learn about the complexities of large-scale power production and power delivery to consumers in our area. Register for the two-day Power Plant Tour sponsored by Red River Valley Co-op Power and Minnkota Power Cooperative for Red River members, spouses and their families. The annual tour is usually offered during the second week in June.

You will tour the cool, clean hydroelectric generation plant at Garrison Dam on the Missouri River and the National Fish Hatchery. You will be treated to a relaxing evening at the Seven Seas Motel in Mandan, N.D., where a banquet will be provided by Minnkota Power Cooperative.

The next morning you will tour the Milton R. Young lignite coal-fired plant near Center, N.D. This is where the majority of your electric energy is generated.
